Are sandals not meant for long distance, heavy duty walking?

I walked in sandals %26quot;with a mission%26quot; across a college campus today and my feet were actually starting to ache esp. the big toe. I am assuming they are only meant for shorter journeys like to the grocery store or mall and they are to be used in a more relaxed manner e.g. pushing a shopping cart along and stopping to look at merchandise, even sitting down at times.

It really does depnd on the shoe, but mostly not so much, like flip flops not so much, but hugged ones maybe.
Reply:Depends on the make of the sandal. Flip Flops can usually be good for short trips or going with a cute outfit. Closed in shoe like sandals are good when you have to make a move in a hurry.
Reply:It completely depends on the sandals... I%26#039;ve been wearing Chaco Z/1 sandals almost exclusively for 8 years, over every type of terrain and for all distances. They%26#039;re the most comfortable footwear of any sort that I%26#039;ve ever worn.
Reply:try Keens. I love them. They are sooooo comfortable!

Ideal for 10 hours walking... LOL!
Reply:Sandals typically don%26#039;t offer the support that other shoes, especially tennis/sports shoes offer.
Reply:Sandals will generally make your feet sore if you take long walks in them, especially thong type sandals. I only wear my sandals to stores, or out to the lake/pool, or if I%26#039;m going somewhere relaxed like a movie or out to eat (because I sit most of the time).

Reply:Sandals are meant for walking. so no it doesntr matter the distant i have took a hike in flip flops so many times but i do some grip and if your feet are hurting then that is typical with any shoe even tennis shoes so yea they are for short and lond distance walking. hope i helped ♥
Reply:Most sandals like flipflops that are just the flat foam are ment for short distances.

But they do have sandals with molds that should support your feet and have a slight arch should be okay for more walking.

Reply:I%26#039;ve had this problem with sandals too. But I%26#039;ve come to realize that some sandals with more cushion do not do this. Reef and Rainbow brand work wonderfully for long walking trips! Good luck. =)

Reply:Whatever you do, don%26#039;t wear flip flops to walk long distances. I wore flip-flops to Six Flags once and got the biggest blister ever. I%26#039;ve never worn flip-flops to Six Flags since.
