In the movie "Office Space" they portray that when the guy comes to work in flip flops he is showing a bad, rebellious, not caring much side of himself. Somewhat of a "gangsta". (me I like wearing sandals so I don't care either way) Just curious what your opinions are on this?
Is guys wearing sandals/flip flops symbolic of a rebellious attitude?
Depends. If you're going to work and your job requires/wants you to wear a suit and tie, then it's rebellious and you'll get a talk (not to mention it doesn't look professional in such a setting).
Otherwise, it's perfectly fine for a guy to wear flip flops pretty much anywhere. They're just like any other shoe or piece of clothing.
I would have to say it's not gangsta. That kind of style is more of a leather jacket, heavy black boots and chains. Flip flops are much more of a surfer or prep style for guys.
Reply:I never seem the movie.
Reply:It's funny you should ask this...my neighbor thinks her teen son is rebellious %26amp; "going down the wrong path" because he wears flops %26amp; sandals - with everything, and jeans in the winter. I thought she was crazy for saying that!! I grew up on the beach %26amp; wore them out everywhere. Besides - they're hot on a guy...WITH good feet! Ew, otherwise! Especially if they're a really unique pair - that look worn %26amp; could tell great stories :)
Reply:well it just depends on wear you are going. if you wear them to work and your work is like dress up attire then yea i would say it gives that impression. but if you are like a teacher or something along that lines then it is ok.
Reply:As long as they are not worn with socks, they are both stylish and sexy... just wash your feet first, as cheesy odours may offend!
And watch out for toenails... keep them neat and clipped.
As for the Gangsta thing; surely not? Possibly P Diddly wears them, but that man would wear a babygro if it had a label on it.
Reply:Love that movie!
I think men who wear flip flops are sexay!
Ew, but in no way "gangsta".
